I have done it a lot with traveling in the U.S, usually using Expedia, but now i’m looking to travel to Europe and Japan/Asia. Looking for times to go to these places, and good sites, or if i need to bundle or break up hotel/flight. THanks!

What’s your budget? Are you a student or grandparent or..? Are you trying to keep money-spending to a low or do you have a tonne of money to spend on this trip? Expedia actually isn’t very good if you’re looking to get a decent price. You will end up paying a lot of money on something that you can find much cheaper elsewhere.

If you go to Europe, fly to London and get a connecting flight with another airline (recommendations are Easy Jet, Ryan Air and Germany Wings) instead of trying to fly directly from your hometown to the city of choice in Europe. This will save you a bundle.

Check out STA or travelcuts.ca to get some great deals on flights. Don’t book bundles. Again, this will significantly increase your price. Check out Lonely Planet guides to your country/region of choice (any book store will sell them). They have some excellent deals on hotels and hostels. hostelworld.com is also good and if you don’t want to stay in a hostel, they still have hotels and others there for you.

Also check out Airline-Booking.com for great Paris Travel Deals!

Hello i have just taking the Travel & Tourism First Diploma at college as i though the same liked the idea of traveling. There are not many practical jobs in the industry as i have now found out . You could be a Tour Rep or an oversea’s rep basically the same thing, but you get to stay in a country up to 6 months, you would have to speak another language though . Your could work in a hotel which can have options to travel as you could work in a hotel anywhere in the world . You could work as part of a Tour Operator which can allow you to travel also.
Maybe you should look for a change in direction and look at somthing different .
hope this helps

How about Rodanthe, NC. No one had ever heard of it until the movie ‘Nights In Rodanthe’ was filmed there. No one knows the origin of the name Rodanthe. It is 15 miles off the mainland of North Carolina on Hatteras Island, part of what is known as the outer Banks. Cape Hattetras is the confluence of the south-flowing Labrador Current and the north-flowing Gulf Stream. The water right at the point of the cape is really wild. , You can climb the lighthouse. A little to the southwest is Ocracoke Island, accessible by FREE ferry, was a hangout of the pirate Blackbeard. Hardly any ‘uncommon’ places in America has a longer history.

Dying industry. Within a few years all of the business will have moved to the internet which will be dominated by just two or three giants and all of the little Travel and Tourist agencies will be out of business. They will go the way of the video rental stores and buggy whip factories.

ok well im so stuck in between picking travel and tourism or health and social care..
i have plans to become a cabin crew, or cruise ship worker etc whilst im young (im 16 at the moment)
and then when im slightly older and have kids to become a primary school teacher
i dont have a clue what course to pick and im worrying so much as i dont want to regret it..

thanks

Did you not ask this question only yesterday?

My advice would be to think about your career and not just the ‘job’ that you plan to do for a few years. The only educational requirements for most UK-based cabin crew jobs are GCSEs – usually in English and Maths – at grade C and above. Neither your Travel & Tourism or Health & Social Care courses are going to be advantageous when going for a job as cabin crew.

If, however, you are serious about becoming a primary school teacher, then consider university, as I am sure the a degree would be required to teach children. The two courses mentioned above, which are no doubt National Diplomas, are unlikely to get you the career you want.

Kernow Lady, I think your response is a little unfair. On most flights, cabin crew do simply smile and serve you drinks and a bite to eat, but in an emergency, it will be them that get you off of the aircraft quickly and safely. Cabin crew do not undergo hours and hours of training to be just waiters and waitresses.
