I hope you are certified. Cayman Islands are great destination for what you are looking for. If you want to stay with US & US territories, The Florida Keys are great, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands. I go to St. Maarten a lot, because it is very easy access, lots of flights, diving is great, lots of night life, casinos, etc. Cayman Island would be the most expensive from this list. I have included some websites for St.Maarten

Hi,

If i am travelling say for example to brighton from birmingham, i enter the relevant postcodes and my sat nav gives me the route to follow, but what happens if i stop off at services half way?……obviously im gonna take my sat nav with me into the services, if i turn it off by the button on the top will it keep my route?…(there is a on/off press button on the top and a on/off slide button on the back)…or will i have to key the brighton postcode back in from where i am?…..or do i just leave it turned on whilst im in services for a while, before continuing my journey?…..

instructions dont cover this scenario, so wondering if anybody knows the best solution….?

thx in advance..

steve

I have 3 different makes of sat navs for different vehicles. They all remember the route they were doing when switched off and then on again. They sometimes need a coiple of minutes to find the satelites when switched back on but they then just carry on from where they were switched off.

So take it in the services and switch it off.

We were a family with three college aged kids and there 40 something parents who were looking for a fun filled low cost vacation.

Lonely Planet has a good range. Either get the individual guides for each country if you want in-depth info on a lot of the cities/towns and some history. If you’re on a tight budget and just want more general info on cheap places to stay, eat and how to get around try the ‘Europe on a Shoestring’.

You can buy the guides online or in most decent bookshops.

Hi. I’m just now registering for high school but I plan to study abroad for a summer or even a semester. I have several places I would like to visit for various reasons such as : the place is my family’s heritage(ireland), to become fluent in the language i’m studying (Spanish), or just to go ahead and pick a unique place purely for the enjoyment and experience? What do you think? I go to a public school btw.
Also – I love learning foreign lanuguages (xcept i’m not very good at it) and I want to be a conservationist/environmentalist (like the person who saves the planet from forest destruction, etc.)

It all depends on your personal preference, you’ll get more out of it if you go during University though. However, if you want to go during high school it’s definitely up to you. You seem interested in Spanish, as you’re trying to become fluent so maybe a place that will help you with that, immersion is the best way to learn a language after all.

I am going on a round world trip and was wondering how much spending money I should take excluding airfares, hotels, and other major expenses.

Really I just want guide to how much money ill need for buying food, entrance fees to major attractions (not many just a few each country), small souvenirs and basic transport like taxis and trains.

We don’t plan on eating in restaurants every night (maybe some nights). We will try to eat in cheap but good places. Make out own food from supermarkets ect..

The major destinations in Europe include Paris, Rome, Venice, Berlin, Munich, Barcelona, Portugal

Other cities include New York, Toronto and Tokyo.

We only plan on spending roughly 4-5 nights in each place. Over all the trip is about 60 days and we plan on going in December/January which I hear is the low season.

What would be a good daily spending amount to keep me fed and comfortable?

£40-60 per day of course you should always have a contingency fund as well

Me and my husband stay in california and wish to travel cheap.
Can anyone suggest good websites for information on Europe trip or to buy tickets from US to the destination?

Thanks!

If you could depart May 21, I see San Francisco-Manchester available currently with KLM for $716rt total; LAX-London $726 with Air New Zealand, British Airways, Virgin, and American (all nonstop).

I checked from SFO and LAX to all gateways in Italy and Switzerland, plus MAN and LON. It looks like flights to UK are cheaper during this time frame by about $300. From London, you can book separately to another city, and return back to London from a different city, using http://www.whichbudget.com

Alternatively, take a flight with Virgin America or JetBlue or another airline to NYC (JFK Airport), then switch to http://www.euroflyusa.com to Italy. They often have very good offers for departures in May.
